Bintan Island of Indonesia
Bintan is an island in the Riau Archipelago in Indonesia. It is located about 40km from Paris. Its capital, Tanjung Pinang is actually the capital of the Riau Archipelago. From here you can see the importance of the island of Bintan.
Compared with Batam, Bintan is richer in its history. Within this context, it has more historical sites to visit.
Bintan history is closely linked closely with those of Malacca and Johor sultanates. Bintan and the rest of Riau Arcipelago were ruled by the Sultanate of Malacca. When the Portuguese attacked Malacca in 1511, the King fled to Pahang in Peninsular Malaysia and later in Bintan where he tried to regain possession of Malacca. Its successor moved to Johor and established the sultanate of Johor.
Later, the Dutch took control of the island of Bintan. However, the Dutchman was then driven by continued strength in Malacca Sultanate.
In 1824, the Treaty of London was finally established that the islands south of Singapore are of Dutch territory. Again Bintan was under the control of Dutch.
Pulau Penyengat is a must for visitors to the historic site. It is located about 6km from Tanjung Pinang. It was the religious, cultural and administrative center of the region in the 19th century. Sultan Mahmud Shah of Malacca gave this island to his wife, Raja Hamidah, daughter of Raja Ali Haji, the commander of Bugis Bintan, in an attempt to achieve peace between the Malays and the Bugis. A large mosque, Masjid Raya has been built on the island. The mosque is huge and is visible from Tanjung Pinang.
Raja Ali Haji was the hero to people of Bintan. There is a monument that commemorates the sea who sacrificed his life for his people against the Dutch.
In the town of Tanjung Pinang, there is a Dutch colonial cemetery that reflects the lives of sailors in ancient times.
Banyan Tree Temple is a popular venue for the local Chinese community and visitors to Singapore. It is located in a town called Senggarang. The temple is about 100 years.
For vacationers, there are generally two areas for you to choose either Lagoi (Bintan Resorts) in the north or Trikora Beach east of the island.
Lagoi is full of upscale resorts like the Banyan Tree Resort and Club Med Ria. They are exclusive resorts with golf courses designed by world-renowned designers of golf courses.
Resorts and hotels theTrikora Beach are affordable for the average visitor. To name a few: Agro Bintan Resorts Beach near complete with fishing equipment such as Ocean Bay Resort and Kolam Kelong Trikora. There is even a station providing diving ex Travel Guide Pondok Wisit. Visitors can stay in his air-conditioned and non air-conditioned night before diving.

The History of Bandung in Indonesia
Bandung, Indonesia is currently the center of West Java and is considered a place where humans first Java or Australoputhecus have lived. Banks and the Great Lake of Bandung were the exact spot where the Java man lived. This was proved by the discovery of artifacts in Dago. Some items were brought to the Geological Museum to be preserved for future reference.
Apart from the Java man, who lived for years on the banks of Bandung, there were Sudanese. Sundanese people are indigenous groups that were mainly composed of Muslims. These people lived in fertile areas and soon devised a unique theater orally called Wayang Golek using puppets. The puppet theater was used to display the creativity of the people. The music was also a specialty of Sundanese, which shows the diversity and musical skills of these groups. A group of Europeans have visited the city and discovered the richness of the earth. Thus, in 1786, a road connecting Bandung, Cianjur, Bogor and Jakarta, was built. And in 1809, Louis Napoleon ordered the Governor-General to intensify the defense of the city by the English. The Great Post Road (Groote Postweg) that was built was too far from the capital of Bandung. Thus, the Governor General in charge of the capital city have moved. The move became a success and because of the deep roots of tradition by the people, a large mosque (mesjid Agung) was constructed.
Changes were made in Bandung, the life of the population has changed and improved. Hotels, shops and restaurants have been built, which means jobs for the people. Railways were also constructed, thus improving the transport of crops leading to economic growth in Bandung. The war also changed the face of the city but people continued to make every effort to restore what has been destroyed.
Today, Bandung can be regarded as a dynamic place with progressive people for a better life through education. Liveaboard Trip Bali - Komodo - Indonesia
We started this trip with a morning dive at Angel Reef, Moyo Island. As usual for this place, crystal clear water and lots of fish, including Longfin Bannerfish, and Anthias Triggerfish Redtooth zillion. On the wall, a pair of ribbon eels in the shallows Pink Squat Lobsters, Mantis shrimp and a wide field of garden eels Spaghetti.
Continue around the island Satonda, hunters creature among us has a whale of a time. rare nudibranch, all kinds of shrimps and crabs, coral fungi and pipefish, the stars of the series, Denise pygmy seahorse! Before nightdive, we watched bats flying home to the island of Sumbawa. Spectacular, with thousands of them to leave, just as the sun sets every day.
On our way to the east, we stopped at Gili Lawalaut for a panoramic hike with stunning views over the Channel Komodo. Stages near Castle Rock and Rock Crystal are among the best in the region, with huge schools of surgeons, unicornis, sweetlip, snappers and Jackfish and gray reef sharks, shark sharks and a good chance for eagle ray or three .
A trip to this region would not be complete without a visit to the land on the island of Komodo itself, try to find a Dragon - the largest lizard in the world! They can be up to 3.5 meters (11.5 feet) - awesome! This trip we were very lucky, and found a dragon in the first 10 minutes! Later in the afternoon, while moored at the island of Rinca, we had several other Komodo Dragons on the beach just opposite us.
But the point of going here in Horseshoe Bay, diving is one of the 10 best dive sites in the world - Cannibal Rock! The place is simply incredible, absolutely full of life! Featherstars, soft corals, sea apples, fish, frogs, giant crabs Zebra, Coleman shrimps and nudibranchs all in the book. Everywhere you look, you find something interesting and unusual! The place really deserves its ranking!
The next morning we went to Manta Alley, the southeast corner of Komodo, and were greeted by 20-25 Mantas feeding near all the area occupied. Cracking diving with great photos and video capabilities!
Another excellent day of diving in the Komodo National Park, and we rounded off the trip with a couple of dives in Moyo Island before sunset cruise back to port in Bali with a beautiful view of Lombok.

A Solitary Beach in West Kalimantan, Indonesia
Ketapang, an Indonesian hidden gem, is located just south of Pontianak, the capital of West Kalimantan. I was personally delighted to visit Ketapang last Christmas and my visit brought back many sweet memories. As you may not know, I was born in Ketapang but my family moved to Jakarta when I was just 1 year old. So, to be able to visit the place where I was born was a fantastic experience. And I can tell you for sure that Ketapang is worth the visit.
There are two ways to get to Ketapang: by air or by sea. Supadio airport in Pontianak serves weekly flights to Ketapang. Or, if you prefer, you can also take an express boat, which is considerably a longer trip. One thing that I first noticed when I arrived in Ketapang was that there were many swallow birds flying freely. Harvesting Swallow's nest (a Chinese cuisine delicacy) is a very popular business here. So, if you are an aggressive businessman who likes to seize every opportunity, visiting Ketapang can be worthwhile.
The highlight of my trip was "Pagatimun," a hidden beach that offers tranquility & solitude. The beach is approximately 1.2 hours drive from Ketapang. It goes deep to an area that is hardly touched by tourists or travelers, even the locals themselves. The sound of the waves breaking was as calming as the sound of stars above. Pagatimun offers serenity that you may not find anywhere in the world.
On my way back from Ketapang, I decided to stay for a couple of days in Pontianak. Pontianak, "Kota Khatulistiwa" or Equator City, is the place to visit to experience wonderful culinary creations. It is called "Kota Khatulistiwa" because the city is located precisely on the equator line. Many travelers transit here before their long journey deep into jungles of Kalimantan via the Kapuas River. There are, however, many other attractions here that you may want to explore. Places to visit and attractions in Pontianak are coming soon as we launch our informative site.
Interesting fact
The name "Pontianak" comes from a folklore. It is said that Pontianak means "pregnant with child" and she was the ghost that haunted the first group who arrived in the uninhabited area of Pontianak.

De Tour of Detours in Malaysia! Bangkok to Bali Overland
The original plan was to take the train from Bangkok all the way to Singapore and then on to Bali which you can do with two connections one in Butterworth in the top third of Malaysia and the 2nd connection at Kuala Lumpur. In theory it works fine in practice after being on the road for a couple of days you are more reluctant to have a long wait for the night trains as every stop costs you a day it seems. The 2nd option is to detour off the trains and jump on the Malaysia Buses and run them from Butterworth straight to Singapore bypassing Kuala Lumpur. If you have been in KL before or the "Petronas Towers" are not high up on your list then this is a good compromise to go straight through to Singapore.
You need to wait around 6 hours in Butterworth and then you can get a choice of buss classes to chose from VIP 1st class or local. For the layover after you sort your bus ticket which should be your first chore. You have a few options, if you want there is a real cruddy hotel that asks some pretty stupid money for the dive that it is which is unwilling to bend and create a short term rate, there is another hotel nicer, also unwilling to bend and create a day rate, which if you chose for the money burnt you could have flown instead. A 3rd option that is way outside the box is the restaurant that is near the freeway off ramp called the "Restoran Pak Samad". The manager is a very agreeable guy with good English from Indonesia. Work a deal with him to eat and shower and he will most likely suggest you use his sun chair for a nap in front of the TV. Finding internet near the bus station seemed to be a chore hopefully with the new bus terminal someone will put a connection in and contract out with the Japanese for the design on some capsule hotel rooms like they have near the "Ikebukuro" train station in Tokyo.
For this trip if your budget is not real tight do the VIP where the seats are much larger, recline further, and there are less seats with more creature comforts like pillows and blankets. You will pay nearly twice as much but it is worth it if you are trading night travel for hotel nights. If you are on a really tight budget then do the first class busses which have around 32 to 35 seats and are sort of almost comfortable unless you are tall.
The trip From Butterworth to Singapore is easy there is one rest stop that it seems every bus that is traveling in Malaysia stops at. The bathrooms have areas that could be improved like all the areas! The food in the restaurant is basic and presented on picnic tables with cutlery from a bin. You find a very limited assortment of drinks and no real western junk food available. I went with the $1 hockey puck grease burger which was quite tasty and the brown sauce gives a pleasant jolt, you might consider ordering 2 or 3 if you wanted to self induce a food comma till the mornings early light.
Early in the morning there will be a stop where they play mix and match adjusting the loads for those that are going to Singapore or "Kota Kinabalu", this was a classic place to lose things like books or loose stuff as the stop is on unannounced and unexpected, and you are told to get on another bus right now, basically at the crack of dawn. Afterwards on the new bus you have somebody new to sit next to and you do not have a confirmed seat or blanket or pillow and no idea on when to expect on when you will get to "the Causeway" which connects Singapore to Malaysia and is another place where confusion is the order of the moment. The directions the bus staff was giving were vague and in not the best English. I was very worried that I was going to be stuck there as the Singaporean customs was very full and the lines for the foreigners were significantly longer that the locals or the E-Passport visa lines so I was one of the last to be coming out of customs.
After clearing Singapore customs the bus goes into Singapore I asked the driver if he could let me off at or near a train station he said that the bus did not go near a train station and I should get a taxi. Being able to read a map I knew that anywhere inside Singapore would be cheaper to get to a train than a taxi from the frontier, so I rode the bus to the end of the line which was closer to the train that it was to anything else. When I asked the driver about this he shrugged and basically said How was I suppose to know that where I park the bus that I drive everyday and park in the same spot everyday, and where I go to the bathroom everyday, after I stop the bus that I drive every day, and park every day in the same spot everyday, which is a train station, how was I suppose to know that you when you asked me as part of my job as a bus driver to be let off at a Singapore train station where a train station was. An Asian travel tip is that sometimes you get convenient answers which are easy to give rather that answers that actually require a smidgen of thought. Their rational I would assume is that they will never see you again and they make no profit from your question, so why bother.

Bali Tour Package - Top 5 Things to Know
Considering signing up for a Bali tour package? While you can plan and prepare your own Bali vacation, there is much to be said about heading over with a fully planned tour and guide. With a tour package, your accommodations and sometimes your meals are all set ahead of time. Itineraries are usually jam packed with activities and sights to see. The nice thing about a tour package is that you have the flexibility to do your own thing, while at the same time the ability to meet some new folks and join up for some fun activities.
There is so much to see and do in Bali, so finding an experienced tour guide will help you get the most out of your trip. It is one of the most highly visited tourist spots in Indonesia, truly a paradise to embrace.
When looking at vacation packages to Bali here are some things to keep in mind:
How many days does the trip last?
To get the most out of Bali, you should try and plan to go for at least a week. This way you will have plenty of time to explore the island as well as relax at your resort and pamper yourself.
Review the activities included in the itinerary
This may sound like common sense, but nonetheless it needs to be said. Take a close look at what activities and sight seeing events are scheduled for the duration. Even though they are optional once you get there, you don't want to be paying for a tour package that has nothing related to your interests.
Identify any restrictions
Some touring companies will place restrictions on things such as insurance and ability to get a refund. Perform your research carefully and don't hesitate to pick up the phone and talk with the owners directly.
Learn about any extra costs involved
Any reputable touring company will be forthcoming with all expenses involved, but just to be on the safe side this is something you should ask them about. You don't want to arrive in Bali only to find out that you aren't financially prepared!
Don't forget travel insurance!
Many times we get so wrapped up in going on an exciting vacation that we forget one crucial element - insurance. It's boring to talk about but still very necessary. Imagine if you get sick and cannot fly? Or worse yet, you get sick during your vacation? There are countless horror stories where travellers just like yourself thought they were fine without insurance until something actually happened to them. Check with your touring company to see if they offer insurance, often times they will help you with the paperwork as well.

Another group you can support is the Carbon Fund, where you can contribute whatever you have - be it time or money - to contribute to projects that involve renewable energy, reforestation, and energy efficiency.

Aside from these spiritual and charitable events that can feed your soul, an Indonesia Bali travel experience will also give some gifts to your senses and will leave you with a feeling of appreciation for its beauty. Explore Indonesia - Travel Itineraries and Trip Planning Advice For Indonesia
Indonesia is the largest and most sprawling archipelago in the world, with more than 17,000 islands. Travelers to Indonesia on a tight schedule, or otherwise concerned with delays, should definitely take a package or escorted tour. Flexible visitors traveling independently outside the tourist areas will find that they can get by with spending very little, but accommodations are basic and transportation is slow. The following is a 13-day travel itinerary for Indonesia:
Day 1 - Arrive Jakarta.
2 - Jakarta.
3 - Fly to Yogyakarta.
4 - Yogyakarta.
5 - Fly to Bali.
6 and 7-Bali.
8 - Fly to Flores.
9 - Flores.
10 - Fly to Sumatra (via Denpasar, Bali).

12 - Full-day trip (with cruise) to Lake Toba.
Day 13 - Back to Jakarta to depart country.
For the travelers with less time, and interest only in Bali, I'd recommend the following 8-day trip.
Day 1 - Arrive Denpasar, Bali. Overnight in either Kuta, Sanur or Nusa Dua, depending on your interests.
2 - Depart in the morning for Ubud, stopping at craft villages along the way. Stroll through town and attend an evening dance performance.
3 - Ubud. Spend the day exploring the surrounding sites and villages.
4 - Depart in the morning for a drive to Batur Volcano and Lake, the Mother Temple and the royal baths at Tirtagangaa. Overnight in either Candidasa or Tulamben.
5 - In Tulamben, spend the morning snorkeling or scuba diving around the offshore wreck of the USS Liberty. Depart in the afternoon for Lovina.
6 - Get up early in the morning to see the dolphins.
7 - Depart Lovina. Head for Kuta, Sanur or Nusa Dua for overnight.
Day 8 - Spend the day shopping and on the beach. Visit the Uluwatu or Tanah Lot temples. Depart in the evening.
If you are able to stay longer in Indonesia, consider extending the stay in Bali one week or adding a week on the islands of Ambon and Sulawesi. Another option would be to spend 3 to 5 days on Bali, travel to Surabaya by bus (or van) and ferry, take a train to Yogyakarta (a daylong trip) and spend a few days there before flying to Denpasar or Jakarta for your departure. Other alternatives include a trip to Komodo Island; a two- or three-day trip to the easternmost major island, Papua, to see the birds and jungles and try its fabulous diving; a four-day trip to Kalimantan to visit the orangutans; or a few days on an excursion to one of the volcanoes. Most travelers see only the major islands and sights and leave satisfied. But if you have lots of time and patience, you can visit literally hundreds of other islands. Most are only seen by dedicated anthropologists, ornithologists or long-term around-the-world adventurers.

Another Prambanan temple is also a magical temple of the folk tale was to build only one day.
The indigenous people of Indonesia are famous for their friendliness and kindness. Enjoy the smiles and warm welcome that are already in their blood for many years. All of them do visit Indonesia worth even more.
However, so many events have happened in recent years. It reduces the foreign tourists visiting significantly. In July 2009, seven people died by suicide bombers in JW Marriott and Ritz Carlton Hotel in Jakarta. It begins again a few years earlier with a bomb attack in Bali, which lasted a few lives and foreign travelers. Although the terrorists arrested and executed by the death penalty, the country is not 100% sure. It could happen to a possible other terrorist acts. This anarchic actions has made a big disappointment for everyone in the world, especially local people. Please stop all the threats in Indonesia.
